Public and recreational areas include access tracks, waterways, parks, children ’s park, ponds, picnic areas, pathways, boardwalks, and nature reserve. Open green areas shall be a combination of open landscaping and tracking through forest environment of existing native bushland and natural regeneration spaces. These spaces shall promote local flora and fauna, offer green spaces and privacy, visual division of precinct and zones hence creating a variety of spaces within the same area.
A percentage of existing mangrove land shall be retained and integrated in the design as open spaces, regeneration areas and exploration areas. For the areas intended for exploration, boardwalks and walking tracks shall meander in and out through the mangrove to create a new experience of the flora and fauna and the natural habitat, educate and to promote awareness.
A well laid out plan with a balance of open green spaces, sports grounds, parklands, walking and cycling tracks including recreational facilities, shall promote outdoor activities for a healthy lifestyle. These attributes connect all the precincts together, which shall also encourage the use of foot & cycling over the use of vehicles.
